What is CAT?

The CTS audio quality test suite (CAT) verifies the audio playback and recording quality of Android devices. It was a required part of GMS certification process. We still test all devices with CAT to ensure great user experience. The goal of this test suite is to test the audio quality of your device without requiring full-blown test environments like nechoic chamber and calibrated instruments. CAT, however, does not replace these types of facilities, but only aims to ensure that the Android smartphone or tablet meets a minimum audio quality bar.
